Recently, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi visited Damascus to discuss regional developments and bilateral relations with Syrian officials. This visit comes after Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, gave a speech in Tehran vowing support for Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza, following an Israeli airstrike.
The conflict in the Middle East has intensified with fresh Israeli airstrikes on Beirut leading to casualties and destruction. Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza continue to engage in clashes with Israeli forces, resulting in casualties on both sides. The situation in Lebanon has led to over 1.2 million people being displaced from their homes.
The ongoing bombardment has also impacted hospitals in Lebanon, leading to the suspension of work in some facilities. Israel has been accused of cutting off key routes, hindering humanitarian aid efforts for those affected by the conflict.
In Gaza, the health ministry reported numerous casualties and injuries following Israeli military strikes. At least 29 Palestinians were killed in Gaza on Friday alone, with continuous attacks causing widespread devastation.
The conflict has also spilled over to the West Bank, where Israeli forces conducted raids resulting in detentions and casualties. Funerals were held for victims of an Israeli airstrike on a refugee camp, leading to condemnations from international bodies.
The situation has also extended to Yemen, where US forces conducted strikes on Houthi rebels. Airstrikes were reported in Sana’a and Hodeidah, targeting weapons systems and bases.
Amidst the escalating conflict, efforts to evacuate foreign nationals from Lebanon have been ongoing, with the last UK-chartered flight scheduled to depart soon. The situation remains volatile, with widespread destruction and casualties reported across various regions.
