Barbecue chain files for bankruptcy

South Carolina-based Sticky Fingers Restaurants LLC has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, as reported by Nation’s Restaurant News. The chain, founded in 1992, has struggled to recover from the impact of the pandemic and inconsistent leadership that led to a decline in food quality and sales.

From operating 15 restaurants, Sticky Fingers now only has four locations in South Carolina and Tennessee. The menu features barbecue pork ribs, smoked brisket, chicken wings, and more, along with a line of barbecue sauces sold in retail locations.

Court documents show that the chain has up to $50,000 in assets and $1 million to $10 million in liabilities. Sticky Fingers joins a growing list of restaurant chains that have filed for bankruptcy in recent months, including On the Border Mexican Grill & Cantina, Red Lobster, Tijuana Flats, and Burger Fi.

The restaurant industry has been hit hard by the pandemic, with many struggling to stay afloat due to restrictions and changing consumer behavior. As Sticky Fingers works through its bankruptcy proceedings, the future of the chain remains uncertain as it navigates its financial challenges.
