River Valley prepares for Pennsylvania’s 250th Anniversary Celebration | Latest Updates on News, Sports, and Employment

Pennsylvania is gearing up for its 250th celebration in 2026, with America250PA organization leading the way. Programs like Pennsylvania Day, Memorial Flag Initiative, and #PAProud Service Member Spotlight have already started in Mifflin County. Community involvement is key, with a community meeting scheduled for March 24 to discuss plans for the celebration year, which will include a bridge week between June 27 and July 4. Different communities will host events each month to highlight the 250th anniversary. The Visitors Bureau will collect information on planned activities and create a promotion list. A time capsule project is also in the works, with postcards to be opened in 2076. The community is encouraged to participate in these initiatives and attend the upcoming meeting for more information. The state agency is encouraging counties to develop their own unique ideas to celebrate the milestone, and planning is already underway in some areas. The goal is for every community in the Commonwealth to show their pride and respect for the country through various activities during the celebration year. More information can be found on the America250PA – Mifflin County Facebook page or by contacting Jenny Landis at the Juniata River Valley Visitors Bureau.
