Wrestling Icon Jim Ross Declares Cancer-Free After Surgery

Jim Ross Declares Cancer-Free and Eager to Return to Commentary

Legendary wrestling commentator Jim Ross has announced that he is now cancer-free, marking a triumphant milestone in his recovery journey. Speaking on the "Grilling JR" podcast, the 73-year-old wrestling icon shared the encouraging news just one month after undergoing surgery for colon cancer.

In his recent update, Ross conveyed the positive feedback he received from his surgeon, who expressed satisfaction with the surgery’s outcome. "I’m sore from the surgery… but I believe they got all the cancer, which is great. So I’m very, very blessed in that regard," Ross stated. This heartfelt declaration comes after he publicly disclosed his cancer diagnosis in May.

Inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2007, Ross has been a pivotal voice in wrestling, known for his iconic commentary during Monday Night Raw and other major events since debuting in 1993. Though he parted ways with WWE in 2013, he has continued to lend his expertise to All Elite Wrestling (AEW).

Looking ahead, Ross expressed his eagerness to participate in the upcoming AEW event on July 12 at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. "I don’t think it’s too ambitious. I think it’s realistic," he remarked, emphasizing his desire to reconnect with fans and talent alike after a period of isolation during his battle with cancer.

Reflecting on his experience, Ross noted the gravity of a cancer diagnosis: "I sure as hell didn’t expect to get it. Colon cancer’s serious business. I’m just glad I came through it without any complications." With renewed hope and determination, he is optimistic about returning to the ring and resuming his beloved role in wrestling commentary.
