Shapiro Discusses Iran Bombing, Assures ‘No Threat to Pennsylvanians’

Governor Shapiro Addresses Sports Funding and Military Strikes During NASCAR Event

Pocono Raceway, PA — On Sunday, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro made headlines while attending the NASCAR Cup Series race, discussing both funding for sports arenas and the recent U.S. military strikes on Iran. In a comprehensive statement, he reassured Pennsylvanians about their safety amidst global tensions.

“The first thing I want to say to the people of Pennsylvania is that our security team, including the state police and Homeland Security, has confirmed there is no threat to the Commonwealth from recent overseas events,” Shapiro stated. He emphasized that ensuring the safety and well-being of residents is a top priority for him and Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis.

While acknowledging that foreign policy isn’t his primary role, Shapiro articulated the need to avoid escalating conflicts, especially in the Middle East. He expressed concern over Iran’s potential to develop nuclear weapons, stressing the necessity for vigilance and comprehensive discussions on U.S. military actions.

Shapiro expressed gratitude for American troops, particularly those from Pennsylvania, who participated in planning and executing the recent bombing of Iranian nuclear sites. “We are proud of our National Guard,” he noted, as he prepared to swear in 40 new members.

Moving forward, Governor Shapiro called for renewed diplomatic efforts to prevent further violence, particularly between Israel and Iran, while advocating for a ceasefire and the return of hostages in Gaza. He concluded with a message of hope and solidarity, stating, “I’m praying for everyone in the Middle East, especially our Americans overseas.”

The governor reaffirmed a commitment to maintain safety for all Pennsylvanians as tensions continue to unfold in the region.
