University of Pennsylvania Track and Field Teams Ready for NCAA Championships in Oregon
PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania’s men’s and women’s track and field teams are gearing up for the prestigious 2025 NCAA DI Outdoor Track and Field Championships, set to take place at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon from June 11-14. The Quakers will have a total of five athletes competing across four individual events: four men and one woman.
Leading the charge is senior Dylan Throop, who made history by becoming the first Quaker to qualify for the Championships. Throop secured his spot with a 10th place finish in the 10,000 meters at the East Regional, clocking a time of 29:07.67. His performance was bolstered by a personal-best of 28:27.40 established at the Raleigh Relays earlier in the season.
High jumper Kampton Kam will also represent Penn, having finished 12th at the Regionals after clearing 2.15 meters (7′ 0.25"). He recorded a personal best of 2.25 meters (7′ 4.5") at the South Florida Invitational in April.
The hurdles events will see standout performances from Ryan Matulonis and Alex Sadikov. Both qualified for the 400m hurdles semifinals with Matulonis finishing second in his heat at 49.88 seconds. Sadikov advanced with a personal best of 50.21 seconds. Matulonis previously won the Ivy League Heptagonal Outdoor Championships with a time of 49.54 seconds.
Lastly, Angeludi Asaah will compete in the discus, having qualified with a mark of 56.32 meters (184′ 9") at the Regionals. Asaah previously recorded a personal best of 57.04 meters (187′ 2").
