University of Pennsylvania Track Team Shines at NCAA East First Round

Jacksonville, Fla. – May 30, 2025 – The University of Pennsylvania men’s track and field team wrapped up an impressive performance at the NCAA East First Round, securing spots for three athletes in the upcoming NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Kampton Kam led the charge, finishing 12th in the high jump with a height of 2.15 meters (7′ 0.25"), after clearing 2.10 meters (6′ 10.75") effortlessly. His performance guarantees him a place in the upcoming championships.

In the 400-meter hurdles, Ryan Matulonis and Alex Sadikov advanced to the semifinals in Eugene, Oregon. Matulonis claimed second place in their heat with a time of 49.88 seconds, while Sadikov achieved a personal best of 50.21 seconds, advancing on time.

Other notables include Conrad Moore, who cleared 2.05 meters (6′ 8.75") to place 26th in high jump, and Edwin Klanke, who finished 21st in the 1500-meter quarterfinals with a time of 3:47.14. Kai Deines competed in the discus, finishing 40th with a throw of 43.98 meters (162′ 0").

In the 5000 meters, Luke Johnson finished 29th at 14:26.54, closely followed by Dylan Throop in 31st at 14:30.4. The team faced challenges in the 4x400m relay, finishing 19th with a time of 3:06.64.

On the women’s side, Angeludi Asaah placed 24th in the shot put, registering a mark of 15.66 meters (51′ 4.5"), as events continued following scheduling adjustments.

With several athletes advancing to the championships, Penn’s track and field team looks poised for a strong showing in the upcoming competitions.
