PHILADELPHIA – Two standout members of the University of Pennsylvania baseball team have been honored with selections to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, recognizing their exceptional performances both on the field and in the classroom.
Sophomore pitcher Marty Coyne and senior pitcher Will Tobin earned this prestigious recognition, announced on Tuesday. The Academic All-District® Baseball Teams highlight the nation’s premier student-athletes for their achievements in athletics and academics.
Coyne had an impressive 2025 season, garnering unanimous first-team All-Ivy honors. He maintained an Ivy League-leading earned run average (ERA) of 1.46 during conference play, finishing with a 3-0 record and striking out 29 batters across 24.2 innings. His outstanding performance also earned him a spot on the Ivy League Tournament’s All-Tournament Team.
Tobin, who concluded his collegiate career this season, also made notable contributions on the mound. He started 11 games and finished with a 2-3 record and a 5.73 ERA, totaling 45 strikeouts in 44 innings. His standout game came against Dartmouth on March 29, where he showcased his talent with a seven-inning performance, allowing just two hits and striking out a season-high seven batters.
Coyne’s selection allows him to advance to the Academic All-America ballot, with the first-, second-, and third-team honorees to be announced on July 1, 2025.
