Flood Watch Issued for South-Central Pennsylvania Amid Ongoing Rain Events

South-Central Pennsylvania is under a Flood Watch until 8 a.m. Wednesday as steady rain persists across the region. Affected areas include Franklin and Adams counties, where saturated ground from previous rains raises concerns about potential flash flooding.

The WGAL News 8 Storm Team has classified this as an Impact Night, warning residents that adverse weather conditions may disrupt daily routines. As heavy rain continues to fall, isolated areas could experience localized flooding; reports from the western regions indicate similar conditions.

Rainfall amounts are projected to range from 1 to 2 inches through midweek, particularly impacting areas west of Gettysburg to Lewistown. By early Wednesday, conditions should begin to improve, tapering to scattered showers. Despite the forecast for occasional rain throughout the day, highs are expected to reach the upper 60s accompanied by humid conditions.

Residents are advised to remain vigilant and prepared for potential flooding as reports of water rescues have already emerged in nearby regions, including Somerset County. As the storm system progresses, it is anticipated that scattered rain will shift to more isolated showers and possibly thunderstorms.

Looking ahead, another storm system is predicted to bring additional rain into the weekend, with temperatures rising to lower 80s by Sunday. Residents looking for a reprieve from the rain may have to wait until the latter part of the weekend, as drier conditions are not expected until Monday.
