Press Release: Bridge Replacement Project on Route 74 in Cumberland County Set to Begin
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced a significant bridge replacement project on Route 74 (York Road) in Cumberland County, scheduled to commence on June 2, weather permitting. This project involves the bridge spanning Yellow Breeches Creek and Norfolk Southern railroad tracks, located between Park Place and Sheaffer Road, at the intersection with Creek Road (T-650) in Monroe Township.
As part of the construction, the bridge and Creek Road at the intersection with Route 74 will be closed, with detours implemented to ensure traffic flow. Motorists traveling on Route 74 will be directed to use Route 15, Lisburn Road (Route 2004), and Route 174 (Boiling Springs Road). For those needing to navigate Creek Road, detours will guide drivers via Sheaffer Road, Locust Point Road (Route 1007), Park Place, Route 74 (York Road), Leidigh Road, and Kuhn Road.
The project, estimated to cost nearly $3 million, will be carried out by Susquehanna Valley Construction Corporation of New Cumberland and is expected to be completed by September 25, 2026.
