Investigation Launched Following Disturbing Death in Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Authorities have initiated a death investigation after a 32-year-old woman was found unresponsive on Parkside Avenue late Thursday night. The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. on the 5000 block, where the woman was discovered with significant injuries, including blunt force trauma to her face and a gunshot wound to her chest.
Local police reported that she was transported to an area hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. Chief Inspector Scott Small provided insight into her condition, stating that she suffered severe facial injuries, road rash on her legs, and at least two penetrating wounds to her chest. However, hospital officials have not yet confirmed the nature of the wounds as gunshot-related.
A witness reported observing the woman being forcefully thrown from a light-colored SUV, which was seen leaving the area heading eastbound on Parkside Avenue. The victim’s friend, Keke Johnson, expressed deep sorrow over the loss, recalling her as a caring individual who loved children and was always willing to help others. "She’d give a shirt off her back for real. I’m gonna miss her calling me and stopping by my house," Johnson shared.
Despite the indications of gunfire, no ballistic evidence was recovered at the scene, leaving investigators searching for further clues to piece together the circumstances surrounding this tragic event. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the police at 215-686-TIPS.
