HARRISBURG, Pa. — New Legislation Targets Transgender Participation in Sports
In a significant political move, all three state senators from the Lehigh Valley supported a controversial bill on Tuesday aimed at restricting transgender girls from participating in school sports across Pennsylvania, from elementary through college levels. The bill, which passed the Senate with a vote of 32-18, mandates that teams sponsored by public schools designate participants based on their sex at birth, classifying them as boys, girls, or co-ed.
This legislation would prohibit students born with male reproductive systems from competing in girls’ athletics.
