Press Release: Indiana Football Offers Promising Running Back Jerome Larue Jr.
Jerome Larue Jr., a standout running back from Bishop McDevitt High School, has made headlines after receiving a scholarship offer from the University of Indiana. This marks a significant milestone for Larue, who earned his first offer without playing a down, and with a year of experience now under his belt, his talents have caught the attention of the Hoosier coaching staff.
Larue Jr., a member of the Class of 2028, announced the offer in a celebratory tweet, expressing gratitude to Coach Walt Wechter and the Indiana coaching team. He already holds offers from notable programs including Syracuse, Cincinnati, Marshall, and Virginia Tech, and has demonstrated remarkable speed with a 40-yard dash time of 4.40 seconds.
Last season, as a freshman, Larue Jr. made significant contributions to the Crusaders, rushing for 288 yards and scoring four touchdowns. Additionally, he showcased his versatility with 53 receiving yards and an impressive 86-yard touchdown during his kick return duties. This performance was instrumental in helping the Crusaders clinch the PA 5A state championship title.
Looking ahead, Larue Jr. will join a robust backfield alongside seniors Nazir Jones-Davis and Maurice Barnes as Bishop McDevitt seeks to secure consecutive PIAA championships, a first in the program’s history.
As Indiana and other top programs continue to recognize Larue Jr.’s potential, the football community will eagerly watch his development in the coming seasons. His achievements highlight the increasing prominence of local talent in collegiate sports.
