Kamala Harris Campaigns in Key Midwestern States to Attract Suburban Voters
PHILADELPHIA — Vice President Kamala Harris is intensifying her campaign efforts as she heads to three battleground states on Monday, aiming to sway suburban voters who are increasingly dissatisfied with Republican Donald Trump. Accompanying her on this pivotal tour is former GOP congresswoman Liz Cheney, a vocal critic of Trump.
The campaign stop includes Chester County, Pennsylvania; Oakland County, Michigan; and Waukesha County, Wisconsin—areas that historically leaned Republican but are showing signs of shifting allegiances. The discussions will be moderated by Charles Sykes, a conservative radio host, and GOP strategist Sarah Longwell, providing a platform for a bipartisan dialogue.
With less than three weeks until the presidential election, Harris seeks to engage undecided voters, energize Democrats contemplating abstaining from voting, and appeal to those disillusioned with Trump’s leadership. Notably, Waukesha County remains a crucial focus—despite Trump-affiliated Nikki Haley winning over 9,000 primary votes there before her exit from the race. Wisconsin’s tight 2020 election margin of just 20,000 votes illustrates the significance of each voter in determining the outcome.
Cheney, who was ousted from her House seat for opposing Trump, has endorsed Harris, citing her commitment to democratic values. At a recent rally in Pennsylvania, she reinforced her support for Harris, positioning it as a patriotic choice and emphasizing the dire consequences of a potential second Trump term.
As Trump downplays the violence of the January 6 Capitol riots, Harris warns of the detrimental impact his return could have on democratic norms. “I do believe that Donald Trump is an unserious man,” she stated, emphasizing the serious ramifications of his presidency.
Harris is scheduled to return to Pennsylvania for a CNN town hall on Wednesday, where she will engage directly with voters to discuss their concerns.
