University of Pennsylvania Track Teams Shine at Larry Ellis Invitational

Princeton, N.J. – The University of Pennsylvania’s men’s and women’s track and field teams wrapped up their regular season on a high note at the Larry Ellis Invitational on May 2-3, showcasing several standout performances that highlight the strength and depth of the Quakers.

Highlighting the event was freshman Zofia Limbert, who set a personal best and currently ranks first in the Ivy League women’s high jump with a height of 1.77m (5’ 9.75”). This impressive feat places her second on Penn’s all-time performance list. Christiana Nwachuku also made headlines, winning the women’s 200m dash in 24.08 seconds.

On the men’s side, Edwin Klanke took second in the men’s 1500m with a personal best of 3:40.79, while teammate Nicolas Pizarro finished fifth in the 800m, setting a new personal record at 1:48.09. The distance runners excelled as Anastasia Russell clocked a personal best of 16:51.80 in the women’s 5000m, securing a sixth-place finish.

In field events, Kai Deines impressed with a fifth-place discus throw of 52.77m (173′ 1"), while Mary Rozier placed fifth in the women’s long jump with a mark of 5.92m (19’ 5.25”). Rozier also finished fourth in the 100m dash, hitting the finish line in 11.93 seconds.

Looking ahead, the Quakers will compete at the Ivy League Heptagonal Outdoor Championships on May 10-11, hosted by Yale, as they aim to build on their strong season performances. With multiple athletes achieving personal bests and top finishes at the Invitational, Penn’s track and field teams are poised for a successful championship run.
