Press Release: Schuylkill County Athletic Legends Inducted at Annual Banquet
Ashland, PA – The Jerry Wolman Northern Anthracite Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame proudly hosted its 54th Annual Induction Banquet on Saturday evening, celebrating the achievements of a new class of Schuylkill County athletic legends. The ceremony took place at Groody’s Catering, where athletes, families, and supporters gathered to pay tribute to the remarkable contributions of this year’s inductees.
The 2025 induction class showcases a diverse array of talent from multiple Schuylkill County schools, honoring individuals whose influence on sports has spanned decades. The inductees include Rachael Hughes Darrah (North Schuylkill, Class of 2007), Kelly Joyce Kerr (Cardinal Brennan, Class of 2004), Christine DiCasimirro Evancho (Mahanoy Area, Class of 1978), and Hallie Roulin Corby (North Schuylkill, Class of 1997) in the front row.
The back row features notable athletes such as Anthony Vislusky (Shenandoah Valley, Class of 1997), Steve Trautwein (Mahanoy Area, Class of 1980), and Jackie Kowker O’Prey (Mahanoy Area, Class of 1988), among others, including Michael V. Kowalick (Cardinal Brennan, Class of 1973) and Garrett Kelly (North Schuylkill, Class of 2009).
In a poignant moment, the chapter also honored Gerry Williams, a notable figure from Shenandoah Valley, who was recognized posthumously for his enduring impact on the local sports community.
The evening served not only to celebrate these exceptional athletes but also to foster community spirit and pride in Schuylkill County’s rich athletic heritage. The Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame continues to recognize and elevate the legacy of those who have dedicated their lives to sports and their communities.
