Women’s Golf Weekend at Ivy Championship Highlighted by Historic Performances

The University of Pennsylvania women’s golf team showcased their strength at the Ivy League Championship this past weekend, setting a new 54-hole team score record with an impressive 892. Although they tied for fifth place with Yale, they were only eight strokes behind second-place Harvard in a field dominated by Princeton.

Junior Julie Shin led the way for Penn, finishing the weekend at 2-over-par 218 and setting a new low 54-hole score for a Penn golfer at the Championship. She tied for fifth place in the field and was the only player in the program to have two under-par rounds at the same Championship. She also earned a spot on the All-Championship Team.

Sophomore Maggie Ni and senior Natalie Cao also had strong showings, finishing 14th and tied for 16th in the field, respectively. Junior Bridget O’Keefe posted the lowest score for Penn on Sunday, ending the weekend in 22nd place. Sophomore Madeleine Zang and freshman Claire Lu rounded out the lineup for the Quakers.

Harvard’s Vanessa Zhang emerged as the standout player of the Championship, finishing with a record-breaking 11-under-par 205, five strokes ahead of the competition.
