Jared G. Crawford, a Mount Holly Springs man, was sentenced to at least six-and-a-half years in state prison for sexually molesting a teenage girl. Crawford, 48, pleaded guilty to four felony sex assault charges in August of last year. The abuse came to light in June 2023 when the victim, then 16, confided in a friend.
The victim reported that Crawford had molested her multiple times, using a hand gesture to make her promise not to tell anyone about the abuse. Initially facing rape and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse charges, Crawford reached a plea agreement with prosecutors to admit to three specific instances of sexual assault.
While the most serious charges were withdrawn, Crawford was sentenced to prison with credit for time already served. He will not be eligible for parole until September 2031. The victim, present in court but choosing not to speak, is said to be satisfied with Crawford being held accountable for his actions.
Following his release, Crawford will be required to register with Pennsylvania’s Megan’s Law registry for the rest of his life. Prosecutors opted for a plea agreement to spare the victim from testifying at trial. Despite evading a longer mandatory minimum sentence, Crawford now faces years in prison and lifelong registration as a sex offender.
