Police in Harrisburg responded to a shooting on the 1700 block of Verbeke Street around 5:30 p.m. on Friday evening, which left a 17-year-old boy injured. The teen was shot in the leg and was found inside a vehicle with a t-shirt tied around his leg. After the incident, a dozen police cars were spotted on the scene, collecting evidence from a Mitsubishi SUV with a flat tire.
A neighbor on the street mentioned that the Mitsubishi had driven by with a flat tire, and a woman inside the vehicle asked for help with the tire while also mentioning that a person had been shot. This led to first responders being called to the area. Though it is unclear where the shooting occurred, a bystander from 10 blocks away reported hearing one or two “pops” while sitting on her porch.
The condition of the 17-year-old boy is currently unknown, and no suspects or arrests have been announced in connection to the shooting. Police were seen collecting various articles of clothing in evidence bags near the Mitsubishi and were observed speaking with a woman and two young males at the scene before leaving around 6:15 p.m. The investigation is ongoing, and further details are expected to be released as they become available.
