Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued for Multiple Counties in South-Central Pennsylvania


A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for Lancaster and Lebanon counties in South-Central Pennsylvania until 5:45 p.m. The warning was due to a severe thunderstorm located over Hummelstown, moving east at 45 mph, with 60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail. This storm was expected to cause damage to roofs, siding, and trees in areas such as Akron, Harrisburg International Airport, Cornwall, Hummelstown, and others. Several major interstates were also impacted by the storm, including the Pennsylvania Turnpike, Interstate 78, Interstate 81, Interstate 83, and Interstate 283. Residents were advised to stay inside a well-built structure and away from windows, and to stay tuned to WGAL for updates. If safe to do so, individuals were encouraged to send photos or videos of the storm to the news station. Stay safe and prepared during severe weather events in the region.
