38-year-old Cody Balmer of Harrisburg admitted to police that he harbored hatred towards Governor Josh Shapiro. Balmer used gasoline from a lawnmower to make Molotov cocktails, which he threw into Shapiro’s residence after breaking two windows. Shapiro and his family were evacuated safely during the targeted act of arson at the Governor’s Residence in Harrisburg. Balmer is currently in custody and faces charges of attempted homicide, aggravated arson, and act of terrorism.
