Kam Shatters National High Jump Record at South Florida Invitational


The University of Pennsylvania men’s track & field team made headlines at the South Florida Invitational on Friday with standout performances. Kampton Kam broke a 30-year old national record in the men’s high jump, reaching a height of 2.25m (7′ 4.25″), ranking him first in the NCAA. Shane Gardner also set a school record in the 110m hurdles with a time of 13.68. Atticus Soehren, Scott Dochat, and Nicolas Pizarro were among the other Quakers who delivered top performances in javelin, hammer throw, and the 800m race.

The team’s success continued with a first-place finish in the men’s 4x400m relay. Benedikt Sachta placed fourth in pole vault, while Kai Deines took fifth in shot put. The team is gearing up for future competitions, with Paul Park set to represent the men’s team at the upcoming Bison Outdoor Classic in Lewisburg, Pa.

The South Florida Invitational showcased the Quakers’ talent and determination, with several athletes achieving personal bests and setting impressive records.
