After conquering injury, Trinity senior Lila Shore ecstatic to return to competing on the track

Trinity High School senior Lila Shore showcased an impressive performance at the Pan Ram Invitational track and field meet, finishing third in both the 800 and 1600 meters despite facing a previous injury that sidelined her for most of her senior cross country season. Shore, who qualified for the state track and field meet in 2023, suffered from severe hip inflammation known as iliac crest apophysitis. After returning to the track last month, she has been steadily improving her times and setting personal records. Shore expressed her gratitude for being able to compete again and described each race as a learning experience. At the recent tri-meet with Middletown and Bermudian Springs, she set a personal record of 1:03.66 in the 400 meters. In the 1600 meters at the Pan Ram, Shore shaved off more than two seconds from her previous time, showing great progress in her recovery. As a District 3 Class 2A silver medalist in the 800 meters and a state meet participant, Shore’s determination and dedication to the sport are evident in her performance. Despite facing setbacks due to injury, Shore’s resilience and passion for running have allowed her to continue competing at a high level.
