The University of Pennsylvania’s new John R. Rockwell Head Coach of Men’s Basketball, Fran McCaffery, has hired Ronald Moore as an assistant coach. Moore, a former standout player for McCaffery at Siena College, had a successful professional career in Europe before retiring in 2021. He co-owns Moore Brothers Basketball, which provides youth basketball programs.
McCaffery praised Moore’s leadership on the court and believes his professional experience in Europe will benefit the Penn Basketball team. Moore, a Philadelphia area native, is excited to work with his former coach and help bring the program back to its former glory as an Ivy League powerhouse.
As a player at Siena College, Moore was instrumental in the team’s three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances and MAAC championships. He graduated as Siena’s all-time assists leader and received numerous accolades for his performance on the court. Moore was inducted into the Siena College Athletics Hall of Fame in 2017.
Aside from his basketball career, Moore holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing and management and is a family man, residing in Plymouth Meeting with his wife and children. His family has a strong basketball background, with relatives playing in the ABA and NBA and his brother playing college basketball.
Moore’s hiring as an assistant coach at Penn signals an exciting new chapter for the basketball program as they aim to reclaim their status as a dominant force in the Ivy League under the leadership of Coach McCaffery.
