The University of Pennsylvania wrestling team had a successful close to the regular season at the Franklin and Marshall Invitational, with four individual titles claimed. Brady Pruett, Spencer Barnhart, Evan Mougalian, and Paul Ognissanti emerged as champions in their respective weight classes at the Mayser Center. Junior Pruett secured his first collegiate title with a major decision victory over Luke Sirianni from Army. Sophomore Barnhart followed suit with a tech fall win over Vincent Gioffre from Franklin & Marshall. Mougalian swept through the 141 bracket, defeating Eric Howe and John Hildebrandt to take the crown. Freshman Ognissanti also impressed, winning his matches against Makoa Niebel and Adam Thomson to claim the 165 title. Next up for the Quakers is the Ivy League Wrestling Championships on March 9, hosted by Princeton. Other notable results from the Invitational included Adam Thomson finishing in first place in the 197 category, and Denzel Perez facing tough competition in the 285 bracket. The team’s success at the Invitational marks a strong finish to the regular season and positions them well for future competitions.
