The University of Pennsylvania softball team recently concluded play in the Mizuno Classic at Palmer Park with losses to Delaware and Virginia, falling to 1-5 on the season. In the game against Delaware, Penn struggled as Delaware took an early lead and dominated the game with an 11-0 victory. The Quakers then faced Virginia, where they put up a strong defensive effort but ultimately fell short with a final score of 3-0. Despite the losses, Penn is looking ahead to their next game against New Mexico on March 7.
In the game against Delaware, the Blue Hens showed their offensive prowess early on, scoring runs in the first inning and extending their lead throughout the game. Penn struggled to get their offense going and were unable to recover. Against Virginia, the Quakers put up a valiant effort but were unable to match the Cavaliers’ offensive output.
Looking ahead, Penn softball will travel to Phoenix, Arizona to participate in the Purple Classic at GCU from March 7-9. The team is slated to play five games in three days in the tournament before returning home for their first game in Penn Park on Tuesday, March 11 against Rider.
