Recall of Frozen Shakes Linked to Listeria Outbreak Where 11 Deaths Have Occurred

Lyons Magnus has issued a voluntary recall of 4 oz. Lyons ReadyCare and Sysco Imperial Frozen Supplemental Shakes due to possible contamination with Listeria. The recall follows a similar action by Prairie Farms Dairy, the manufacturer of the products. Listeria can cause severe symptoms in healthy individuals and can be particularly dangerous for vulnerable populations like young children and the elderly. Pregnant women are also at risk of miscarriage or stillbirth if infected.

The recalled products were distributed to long-term care facilities but were not available for retail sale. The top of the shake cartons have specific printing with Lot Code and Best By Date information to identify the affected products. The FDA has reported 38 illnesses and 11 deaths associated with the strain of Listeria linked to these products. The outbreak dates back to 2018.

Lyons Magnus has emphasized that the contamination was isolated to a third-party manufacturer and does not affect any other products manufactured by the company. Individuals who have the recalled products should quarantine them immediately and contact Lyons Magnus for more information at frozenshakerecall@lyonsmagnus.com.

This announcement serves as a reminder for consumers to be vigilant about food safety and the importance of following recalls to prevent potential health risks. Lyon Magnus is taking proactive steps to ensure the safety of their customers and the public.
