Alabama Execution Scheduled for Killer of Pauline Brown

Pauline Brown, 41, was raped and murdered in her Birmingham, Alabama, apartment by Demetrius Frazier on Nov. 26, 1991. Frazier was convicted of capital murder and is set to be executed on Feb. 6, 2025. Brown was known for enjoying simple things in life, such as spending time with her daughters and friends, watching TV, and indulging in red velvet cake. She had worked at Bama Foods as a cook for 18 years and was close with her coworkers. When Brown didn’t show up for work, her coworkers grew worried, and her boyfriend found her battered body in her apartment after she was robbed, raped, and murdered. Frazier, armed with a gun, broke into her apartment and demanded money before raping her and shooting her in the head when she begged for her life. Frazier was arrested for an unrelated attempted rape and murder in Detroit, where he admitted to killing Brown. Brown’s loved ones remember her as a dedicated worker, a loving mother, and a fan of soul music and red velvet cake. Her daughter, Phyllis Denise, has honored her memory on social media, wishing her a happy birthday and sharing memories of her. As Frazier’s execution date approaches, USA TODAY is reflecting on Brown’s life and tragic death.
