University of Pennsylvania freshman guard Sarah Miller received the Tamika Catchings National Freshman of the Week award from the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA), following her impressive performance in a game against La Salle. This recognition comes right after Miller was named Ivy League Rookie of the Week for the first time this season. In the game against La Salle, Miller scored a career-high 21 points, with 18 of those points coming in the first half thanks to five three-pointers.
Miller’s stellar performance helped the Quakers secure a 74-63 win in the Big 5 Classic. She made a significant impact by hitting four three-pointers in a crucial three-minute stretch that shifted the game in Penn’s favor. So far this season, Miller has started in the last six games as a guard and has shown impressive shooting percentages from the field and beyond the arc.
With a record of 7-3, Penn is currently in second place in the Ivy League standings behind Harvard. The team will take a break before returning to action on December 20th against Delaware State.
