Blackburn presents legislation targeting federal efficiency called DOGE Acts

Sen. Marsha Blackburn introduced a package of bills aimed at reducing federal agency spending, trimming the federal workforce, relocating agencies outside of D.C., and requiring federal employees to return to in-person work. The legislation, known as the DOGE Acts, is inspired by a proposed Department of Government Efficiency. SpaceX CEO Elon Musk and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy are involved in leading the new agency.

The bills introduced include freezing federal employee pay increases for a year, relocating non-national security agencies, establishing performance-based pay structures, and requiring agencies to return to pre-pandemic telework levels. There are also measures to cut non-security discretionary spending and cap agency workforces over three years.

The goal is to achieve government efficiency and reduce wasteful spending, with a focus on streamlining operations and reducing the federal workforce by 75%. The legislation has received support from Republicans, including U.S. Rep. Claudia Tenney, who is sponsoring the bills in the House.

Both Presidents Trump and Biden have significantly contributed to the national debt, with Trump’s policies adding $8.18 trillion during his first term and Biden contributing $6.66 trillion up to August. The bills aim to address these concerns and rein in government spending to benefit hardworking Americans. Republicans hope to collaborate with Musk and Ramaswamy to achieve these goals.
