Rain Returns to South-Central Pennsylvania After a Mild Weekend
South-central Pennsylvania residents enjoyed a beautiful and mild day, but a storm system is set to change the weather starting Monday. Clear skies and temperatures in the mid-50s were the highlight of the weekend, as people engaged in outdoor holiday activities in places like Gettysburg.
However, as the evening progresses, clouds will begin to roll in, signaling the arrival of rain on Monday morning. Low temperatures tonight are expected to dip into the mid-30s, setting the stage for a wet commute. Rain is anticipated to reach western counties as early as 7 AM, gradually spreading eastward. Forecasts suggest that rainfall could total between 0.20 to 0.30 inches during the day.
The rain is expected to clear by late afternoon, with lingering chances of showers. Highs on Monday will be more typical for the season, hovering in the mid-40s. Following a relatively dry day on Tuesday with mild conditions, another storm system will bring increased precipitation by Wednesday, potentially delivering an additional 0.50 to 1.00 inches of rain. This colder front may also lead to a mix of rain and snow in higher elevations as temperatures drop.
As the week progresses, Thursday will see a significant drop in temperatures, making it feel much colder due to gusty winds. Highs will struggle to reach the mid-30s, with wind chill factors making it feel like the teens and 20s. A high-pressure system is projected to settle in by the end of the week, offering some relief from the chill, but the cold air is expected to linger into the weekend.
Stay tuned for updates on the evolving weather conditions.
