President-elect Donald Trump has selected Alina Habba, a member of his legal team, to serve as counselor to the president in his upcoming second term. Habba has represented Trump in various lawsuits since 2021, including cases against his former attorney Michael Cohen, his niece Mary Trump, and The New York Times. She is a managing partner at a law firm based in New Jersey near Trump’s golf club, and was chosen by Trump after meeting at the club. Trump praised her as a tireless advocate for justice and an invaluable advisor to his campaign and transition team. Habba, a first-generation American of Middle Eastern heritage, is a role model for women in law and politics and was named Chaldean Woman of the Year. She has an undergraduate degree from Lehigh University and a law degree from Widener University Commonwealth Law School. Earlier this year, Habba spoke at the Republican National Convention, describing herself as a devout Catholic, proud first-generation Arab American woman, and feisty Jersey girl. Trump expressed his admiration for Habba’s unwavering loyalty and unmatched resolve in his announcement on Truth Social.
