Three men reported missing following their intended climb of New Zealand’s highest peak

Three climbers, two Americans and one Canadian, are missing after failing to board their flight on Monday to climb Mount Cook in New Zealand. The climbers, Kurt Blair, 56, and Carlos Romero, 50, from the U.S., along with the Canadian man who has not been identified, arrived in New Zealand on November 30 and were scheduled to climb the Zurbriggen Ridge on Mount Cook. Search and rescue efforts began on Monday, but have been hampered by poor weather conditions. The men were reported overdue after missing their flight, and authorities are working with the U.S. and Canadian embassies to inform and support their families. Heavy rain warnings are in effect near Mount Cook, with temperatures expected to be in the 50-60 degree range. The search for the missing climbers may be delayed until Thursday due to the weather conditions.Updates on this story will be provided as more information becomes available.
