According to the NWS, a band of heavy snow was detected at 3:37 p.m. over Lock Haven, moving southeast at a speed of 30 miles per hour. Travelers on Interstate 80 are particularly urged to exercise caution, as the warning affects the stretch between Lamar and the Lewisburg-Williamsport exits, specifically from mile markers 177 to 199.

Areas expected to be impacted by heavy snow include:

  • Lock Haven, McElhattan, and Dunnstown around 3:40 p.m.
  • Carroll around 3:55 p.m.
  • R.B. Winter State Park around 4:00 p.m.
  • Sand Bridge State Park around 4:10 p.m.

  • Mifflinburg and Vicksburg around 4:20 p.m.

The NWS emphasizes the potential for rapidly deteriorating conditions during winter weather events, advising travelers to prepare for snow and ice-covered roads. Motorists are encouraged to reduce speeds and allow for extra travel time, as visibility may change swiftly and road conditions can become hazardous. The NWS cautions that these adverse weather conditions could lead to accidents, reinforcing the importance of vigilance for anyone traveling in or through the affected areas.
