The University of Pennsylvania men’s basketball team wrapped up the Cathedral Classic Invitational presented by Toyota with a 68-53 loss to Elon in the final game of the tournament. Despite committing just six turnovers, Penn fell to 3-5 overall while Elon improved to 5-3 overall. Junior Ethan Roberts led Penn in scoring for the third consecutive game with 20 points, earning a spot on the all-tournament team.
Senior Nick Spinoso contributed eight points, seven rebounds, and five assists, while junior Dylan Williams also scored eight points. On the opposing side, Elon had four players score in double figures, with center Matthew Van Komen leading the team with 10 points, 14 rebounds, four assists, and four blocked shots.
Elon took an early lead in the game, but Penn fought back and stayed within striking distance until a scoring drought allowed Elon to pull away. Penn will have a week off before facing Drexel in the Big 5 Classic at the Wells Fargo Center next Saturday.
