Man Fatally Shot on Library Street

Braddock, PA – Early Morning Shooting Claims Life of Local Man

In the early hours of Friday, tragedy struck in Braddock as 52-year-old Henry Raoule Freeman was shot and killed inside his blue Audi, parked near a basketball court. Responding to reports of gunfire shortly after 1:30 a.m., Pennsylvania State Police and medical personnel found Freeman mortally wounded, with evidence suggesting at least one gunshot to the neck. He was pronounced dead at the scene approximately 20 minutes after the shooting.

Neighbors expressed their shock and sorrow over the incident, recalling Freeman’s friendly demeanor. Linda Lenz, a resident who lived nearby and knew Freeman, described him as a "real nice guy" who would often check in to see if she had received any packages. “It’s sad. I feel awful,” she stated. The car was located just above the Library Street basketball court, close to Freeman’s home, where he had resided for around six years.

The Pennsylvania State Police Troop B major case team meticulously gathered evidence for over ten hours, reviewing surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses. Authorities revealed that there was at least one known witness, an acquaintance of Freeman, who is currently assisting with the investigation.

As the case remains active, neighbors like Lenz are left rattled by the violence that erupted so close to home. She expressed concerns about safety, contemplating her lease renewal amid the recent tragedy.

State police urge anyone with information regarding the incident to contact them at 412-787-2000. The community grapples with the loss as investigators continue their search for the truth surrounding Freeman’s untimely death.
