Flyers Dominate Rangers in 3-1 Victory

PHILADELPHIA — In an impressive display, the Philadelphia Flyers secured a 3-1 victory over the New York Rangers on Friday, with Travis Konecny leading the charge by scoring two goals. Konecny’s first goal came on a breakaway in the first period, as he maneuvered past Rangers goalie Igor Shesterkin, sliding the puck through his legs. He later sealed the win with an empty-net goal in the final minute of play. Bobby Brink also contributed to the Flyers’ victory with a goal, marking Philadelphia’s fourth consecutive game with at least one point.
The Rangers’ struggles continued as they fell to their fifth straight loss. Vincent Trocheck managed to score for New York, but the team faced a tough matchup, especially in the first period where they were outshot 15-4 and failed to register a shot on goal until the 11:11 mark. This disappointing start is reflective of a broader issue for the Rangers, who have allowed nine first-period goals over their last six games. Despite the loss, Shesterkin showcased his skill with 32 saves, keeping the Rangers competitive throughout.
A pivotal moment occurred with just two minutes left in the game when Flyers goalie Ivan Fedotov made a critical left pad save against Mika Zibanejad, preventing a potential game-tying goal. Konecny’s outstanding performance continues to shine, as he has registered 18 points in his last 12 games, including seven goals and 11 assists.
Looking ahead, the Rangers are set to begin a five-game homestand against Montreal, while the Flyers will travel to St. Louis.
