Sean Couturier Delivers OT Winner as Flyers Edge Predators 3-2

Flyers Edge Predators 3-2 in Overtime Thriller

By Jim Diamond, The Associated Press

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — In a nail-biting overtime showdown on Wednesday night, the Philadelphia Flyers emerged victorious, defeating the Nashville Predators 3-2. Sean Couturier sealed the win with a decisive goal just 2:31 into the extra period.

The Flyers, now winners of two of their last three games, showcased a balanced scoring attack with contributions from Scott Laughton and Morgan Frost. In goal, Aleksei Kolosov made 25 saves, improving his record to 2-4-0 this season.

The Predators, struggling with consistency, saw goals from Roman Josi and Ryan O’Reilly but fell short despite leading 2-1 in the closing moments. A dramatic late-game effort from Frost, who redirected a shot into the net with only 11.4 seconds left, sent the match into overtime and dashed Nashville’s hopes for a third consecutive home win.

Key moments emerged as O’Reilly’s goal at 3:42 of the first period marked his first point in 14 games, a much-needed boost for the Predators’ offense. Despite the early advantage, Nashville was unable to maintain their lead, reflecting ongoing challenges as the season progresses.

Statistically, the Flyers struggled on special teams, earning just one power play opportunity throughout the match and failing to capitalize even with the net empty in the final moments.

As the Flyers prepare to host the New York Rangers on Friday, they look to build on this momentum, while the Predators aim to regroup before facing the Tampa Bay Lightning in their next matchup.
