The University of Pennsylvania men’s and women’s cross country teams are gearing up to compete at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships in State College, Pa. on Friday, hosted by Penn State. Senior Dylan Throop and freshman L’Mio Edwards have been standouts for the team this season, with Throop earning Ivy Men’s Athlete of the Week honors and placing second at the Ivy League Heptagonal Cross Country Championship. Throop clocked in a personal-best 8k time of 22:46.4, while Edwards recorded a personal-best 6k time of 20:57.6. The Penn men finished fourth at the Ivy League Championships, led by Throop and Luke Johnson.
Competing on Friday for the Quakers will be Nick Carpenter, Sahil Dodda, Dennis Fortuna, Luke Johnson, George Keen, Shane Murphy, and Dylan Throop in the men’s 10k, and Kyra Compton, L’Mio Edwards, Bronwyn Patterson, Katie Pou, Miranda Schriver, Anna Weirich, Olivia Williams, and Nora Wollen in the women’s 6k race. The team has had several athletes earn Ivy Athlete of the Week honors throughout the season, showcasing their talent and hard work.
