Penn sophomore running back, Malachi Hosley, has been named a finalist for the Walter Payton Award, which is presented annually to the National Offensive Player of the Year in Division I FCS college football. The award, known as the Heisman of the FCS, will be announced at the Stats Perform FCS National Awards Banquet in January. Hosley joins two other finalists from the Ivy League.
In his second season, Hosley had an outstanding performance for the Quakers, leading in rushing categories and ranking high in FCS football for rushing yards. He finished the season with 1,192 yards, the eighth-most by a Penn running back in program history. Hosley also had seven 100-or-more rushing yard games and scored nine touchdowns.
His standout performance of the season came against Cornell where he rushed for 192 yards and two touchdowns. Penn finished the 2024 season with a 4-6 record, tying for sixth place in the Ancient Eight.
