Pennsylvania Man Charged in String of Burglaries Across Livingston County
A 39-year-old man from Pennsylvania, Ben McCormack, has been arrested in connection with a series of burglaries reported in Livingston County. McCormack, a resident of North East, is facing multiple charges after allegedly breaking into several businesses and stealing valuable items.
The incidents began on October 25, when McCormack is accused of unlawfully entering a business on Linwood Road in York, where he reportedly made off with thousands of dollars in lawn equipment. Earlier that same day, he was also allegedly involved in a burglary in Avon, where he stole an ATM.
The crime spree continued on November 2, when McCormack is said to have broken into a Tec Drive business in Avon, stealing over $20,000 worth of landscaping equipment. Additionally, that morning, he attempted to break into a change machine at a business on East Main Street in Lima but was unsuccessful in his efforts.
McCormack’s alleged activities caught up with him when he was arrested on November 15 in Chautauqua County, New York, where he was being investigated for a separate smash-and-grab incident. Law enforcement authorities charged him with two counts of third-degree burglary, grand larceny, and criminal mischief.
Following his arraignment, McCormack was remanded to custody, with bail set at $50,000 cash/credit or $100,000 bail. The series of burglaries and the valuable items stolen have raised concerns among residents and business owners in the area, prompting increased vigilance and law enforcement presence in the community as investigations continue.
