In a hard-fought game against Villanova, the University of Pennsylvania women’s basketball team fell short with a final score of 80-64. Stina Almqvist led the scoring for Penn with 24 points and nine rebounds, maintaining an average of 20.8 points per game for the season.
Although the Quakers struggled with shooting efficiency, they showed resilience throughout the game. Bench players like Saniah Caldwell and Tina Njike contributed to the team’s efforts, totaling 26 points off the bench. Despite the loss, the Quakers look forward to their next game against UC Irvine on Thursday evening at The Palestra.
Villanova’s balanced scoring effort, with four players reaching double figures, proved to be a challenge for Penn. The Wildcats shot 42.9 percent from the floor and 34.6 percent from beyond the arc. Despite the loss, Penn demonstrated determination and fought hard until the final buzzer.
