Mother Jones: An Eventful 17th Birthday Party with a Stocked Bar, Beer Pong, and a Mom Accused of Assault

Clarice Schillinger, a key figure in the conservative “parental rights” movement in Pennsylvania, is facing criminal charges of assault, harassment, and furnishing minors with alcohol after an incident at her daughter’s birthday party. Witnesses reported that Schillinger allegedly gave alcohol to minors, played beer pong with them, and engaged in physical altercations with teens and her boyfriend. She is scheduled for a hearing in January and has denied the charges through her lawyer.

Schilling founded the Keeping Kids in School PAC to support school board candidates advocating for school reopenings during the pandemic. She later co-founded the Back to School PA PAC, which received significant financial support from venture capitalist Paul Martino to back conservative candidates in local school board elections. These candidates lost in the 2023 elections, with Democrats winning all races in Central Bucks and flipping the board from a Republican supermajority.

This isn’t the first time Schillinger has faced allegations of underage partying at her home, as police had previously observed teenagers darting into her house during another incident. Despite the charges, her attorney maintains that she has always been a law-abiding citizen and looks forward to defending against the allegations. This scandal involving a prominent figure in the parental rights movement highlights the challenges faced by conservative candidates and the changing political landscape in local school board elections.
