The University of Pennsylvania fencing programs showcased impressive performances at the Elite Invite, finishing 2024 meets on Sunday at the Tse Center. The women’s team, ranked #7, secured victories against Northwestern, North Carolina, Ohio State, and Stanford to end with a 6-2 record in the tournament. The men’s team, also ranked #7, dominated the final day by defeating North Carolina, Ohio State, Stanford, and Air Force, finishing with a 6-1 record.
Looking ahead, the Quakers will be opening the new year at University City and will be competing in the Philadelphia Invite on Saturday, Jan. 18. The men’s team had strong wins against North Carolina, Ohio State, Stanford, and Air Force, but faced a loss against Notre Dame. The women’s team had victories against Northwestern, Ohio State, North Carolina, and Stanford, but suffered losses against Notre Dame and Cornell.
Overall, the University of Pennsylvania fencing programs had a successful showing at the Elite Invite and will be looking to carry that momentum into their upcoming competitions.
