Pittsburgh TV News Veteran to Retire After Long Career


After three decades of award-winning political reporting and analysis at KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh, Jon Delano has announced his retirement effective Dec. 1. Delano, who has been the station’s political analyst since 1994, has been an invaluable asset to the people of southwestern Pennsylvania, according to KDKA president and general manager Chris Cotugno.

Throughout his time at KDKA, Delano has been known for his ability to access key decision-makers and provide viewers with the information they need to stay informed. In addition to his role as political analyst, Delano has also produced Sunday Business Page segments and co-hosted the KD/PG Sunday Edition, a weekly public affairs program. He recently began hosting “Inside PA Politics,” a program featuring a rotating panel of political activists.

Delano, who is 75 years old and resides in Mt. Lebanon, joined KDKA full-time in 1991 as the station’s money and politics editor. Over the years, he has built a reputation for his insightful political commentary and thorough reporting on a wide range of issues.

As he prepares to embark on the next chapter of his life, Delano’s colleagues and viewers alike have expressed their gratitude for his dedication and wish him and his family the very best. His retirement marks the end of an era at KDKA, but his impact and legacy in the world of political journalism will undoubtedly endure for years to come.
