Celebrities rally in Philadelphia to support Harris campaign

The Pennsylvania Democratic Party and Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign held a rally at Temple University’s The Liacouras Center on Monday, Oct. 28, with notable appearances by Barack Obama, John Legend, and Bruce Springsteen. The event, titled “When We Vote We Win,” aimed to energize voters ahead of the presidential election, as polling suggests a tight race in the swing state.

Local Democratic candidates joined the celebrities on stage, including Senator Bob Casey, State Representative Malcolm Kenyatta, Cherelle Parker, and Joanna McClinton. Despite the last-minute nature of the event, attendance was high, with over 1,000 eager attendees lining up before doors opened.

John Legend and Bruce Springsteen performed at the rally, urging voters to choose progress and healing. Obama also made a passionate plea for voters to consider the values of the candidates, criticizing President Trump’s rhetoric and campaign tactics.

While Trump has not appeared in Philadelphia recently, his campaign has been targeting undecided voters in other parts of the state. Both Harris and her vice presidential nominee Tim Walz were absent from the rally, campaigning in Michigan instead.

The event in Philadelphia was part of a series of high-profile gatherings in the area, with celebrities like Leonardo DiCaprio and Tessa Thompson also supporting efforts to encourage early voting in Pennsylvania. With the state becoming a focal point in the election, residents are bracing for an onslaught of campaign messaging as Election Day approaches.
