Spotlight PA Partners with Five Pennsylvania TV Stations for Innovative News Collaboration
In a groundbreaking move to enhance news accessibility, Spotlight PA has formed a unique partnership with five television stations across Pennsylvania. This collaboration will transform Spotlight PA’s investigative reports into broadcast-ready news segments that will be featured on regular local newscasts, expanding statewide coverage for millions of Pennsylvanians.
Spotlight PA, known for its commitment to uncovering critical stories and holding the powerful accountable, will produce high-quality journalism tailored for Nexstar’s Pennsylvania stations: WTAJ (Johnstown-Altoona-State College), WHTM (Harrisburg-Lebanon-Lancaster-York), WJET/WFXP (Erie), WBRE/WYOU (Scranton-Wilkes-Barre), and WPHL (Philadelphia). Collectively, these outlets reach approximately 5.1 million households and 10 million adults.
The partnership launched this month, focusing on election coverage, with future reporting set to tackle essential issues such as local government accountability and rural challenges. Spotlight PA’s segments will be distributed not only through the stations’ newscasts but also across their websites and social media platforms, coupled with promotional efforts to elevate awareness about Spotlight PA’s nonprofit mission.
To ensure high production quality, Spotlight PA has engaged a seasoned television journalist to assist in creating these segments, which will also be made available on Spotlight PA’s website and its upcoming YouTube channel. This initiative marks the first significant investment in video journalism for Spotlight PA, aimed at promoting engagement and fostering a deeper connection with the community.
This innovative alliance aims to bridge the gap between nonprofit journalism and commercial television, while enhancing local news programming. It allows Spotlight PA to amplify its reach and impact, solidifying its role in nonpartisan investigative journalism in Pennsylvania. As it approaches its fifth anniversary, Spotlight PA encourages public support to continue its mission of quality reporting in service to the community.
