Pribula Guides Penn State to Victory as Allar Sits Out Second Half
MADISON, WI – In a dramatic finish at Camp Randall Stadium, backup quarterback Beau Pribula stepped in for an injured Drew Allar to guide Penn State to a 28-13 victory over Wisconsin. The pivotal moment came late in the game when Kaytron Allen executed a 24-yard touchdown run, set up by clever trickery from offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki.
While Allar displayed impressive passing in the first half, the team’s second-half surge was largely credited to Pribula’s impactful presence. Coach James Franklin noted that Pribula’s dual-threat capability opened up the field, allowing the running game to flourish. “His threat on the backside forces the defense to defend the entire field,” Franklin explained.
Pribula’s performance was strong, completing 11 of 13 passes for 98 yards and orchestrating the run game effectively with six rushes for 28 yards. The offensive line also played a crucial role in the second half, helping the Nittany Lions average over six yards per carry. “Most people aren’t built like that, and ours are very different in a lot of ways," Franklin stated, emphasizing the diversity of the quarterback options available.
As Penn State prepares for a crucial top-five matchup against Ohio State, Franklin remained noncommittal about Allar’s return, noting that a decision may need to wait until kickoff. Regardless, Pribula’s confidence and performance may alleviate concerns, as his teammates expressed faith in his abilities. Running back Nicholas Singleton stated, “There’s no downfall between him, Drew, or anyone else. Beau did a good job handling the huddle.”
With Pribula proving his mettle in a high-pressure situation, Penn State’s offense appears poised for continued success, no matter who is under center.
