The National Weather Service issued a report on Friday warning of elevated fire danger in several counties in Pennsylvania due to dry and windy conditions. The affected areas include Northern Clinton, Northern Centre, Southern Centre, Northern Lycoming, Southern Clinton and Southern Lycoming, as well as Blair, Huntingdon, Bedford, Fulton, Franklin, Sullivan, Union, Snyder, Montour, Northumberland, Columbia, Perry, Dauphin, Lebanon, Cumberland, Adams, York and Lancaster counties. Residents are advised to be cautious with potential fire ignition sources such as machinery, cigarettes, or matches, as dry grasses and tree litter could fuel rapid fire spread.
The report mentions that relative humidity values are expected to drop to 25 to 40 percent in the afternoon, while wind gusts out of the northwest are forecasted to reach between 20 and 30 MPH on Saturday. The combination of these weather conditions poses a significant risk of wildfires across the southeastern half of Pennsylvania.
The Advance Local Weather Alerts service, provided by United Robots, utilizes machine learning to gather the latest data from the National Weather Service. This technology helps to keep residents informed and prepared for potential weather hazards in their area.
