FDNY Shuts Down ‘Death Trap’ Haunting in Hollis in NYC

The New York City Fire Department shut down a haunted house called “A Haunting in Hollis” in Queens after finding multiple violations that posed serious safety hazards. The violations included illegally constructed staircases, blocked exit routes, and removed fireproofing materials. FDNY Commissioner Robert Tucker referred to the haunted house as a ‘death trap’ and emphasized the importance of enjoying Halloween safely. Despite the shutdown, the haunted house announced their intentions to reopen by Oct. 18 after meeting the safety requirements set by the Department of Buildings and FDNY. They have issued refunds for outstanding tickets, and there are currently no future availability shown on their ticket website. In related news, Solainne Moncero-Tannis filed a lawsuit against the haunted house, alleging that she broke both ankles during a visit in 2023. The haunted house has been in business since 2002 and was featured on “The Nick Cannon Show” in 2021.
